The Scott County Library System is working to bring a new expanded Library to the Walcott community!
The SCLS Foundation has purchased the building at 101 E Durant Street and will be working on a fundraising campaign to bring this upgraded facility to Walcott. The new Library will offer more materials in a variety of formats, study space, and a Community Room for programs, meetings and events.
We are pleased to announce that the City of Walcott has committed to a $50,000 pledge to the new Library, and the Walcott Trust & Savings Bank has also committed $50,000. In October 2016, the Scott County Board of Supervisors has also pledged a lead gift of $50,000, and in November, the Hubbell -Waterman Foundation granted $50,000. We have made huge progress towards securing the costs of this project, with support from the RDA, SCRA, the Walcott Day Committee and other initial gifts.
We are grateful for these lead gifts and the strong community support, but we need your help to make this project possible. If you are interested in making a donation for the Walcott Branch, please use this Walcott Branch Library Pledge Form. All donations and gifts make a difference, and the money raised from this campaign will be used for the Walcott Branch.
Work has started on the outside of the building to prepare the new site, and we look for remodeling to begin in April of 2017.
Plans have been modified to reflect a pitched roof for the new Walcott Branch.
